Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, congratulated the Indian contingent on securing 61 medals for India, at the 2022 Commonwealth Games 2022.

Furthermore, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) congratulated the players from the Telugu State, who made Telangana the second state, with a maximum number of medal tally for the CWG 2022.

KTR tweeted, “Telangana is No. 2 in the state wise medal tally of #CWG2022 

Compliments to all the amazing champions, their coaches & the support staff on a stellar job.”

Some of the players who represented India at the CWG 2022 and hail from Telangana are:

  5. Mr. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy
  6. Ms. Sreeja Akula

It is to be noted, at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, held in Birmingham, England, the United Kingdom, India secured 61 medals, of which 22 were Gold Medals, 16 were Silver Medals and 23 were Bronze Medals.

Of the tally, athletes from Telangana secured 6 medals, after Haryana, which had the highest medal tally at 23.

Besides Telangana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu players secured 5 medals each.

Meanwhile, the supporters and family members of all the commonwealth Games participants welcomed the players at the Hyderabad Airport, on the 10th of August, Wednesday.

The Indian Contingent returned to India from Birmingham on the 10th of August and received a grand welcome in their respective states.
